Artistic vision

WL Hanson’s works are strikingly contemporary and urban using bold colors and strong graphics in tight compositions that pull the viewer into an intimate connection with the image. These paintings are objects in and of themselves. They are sculptural in form and presentation and in the use of overlapping media and materials. Some of the works use common recycled packaging materials and asks the viewer to consider the impact our lives have on the natural environment and challenge us to examine what is discarded and why. The paintings frequently evoke a sense of nostalgia at the transition of time and culture with collage elements adding dreamy references to language, music and cultural and stylistic evolution. But always the paintings are about the challenge of achieving visual balance with the materials at hand and creating something that is visually pleasing.

Please enjoy the work.
